David T. Ford
Executive Director

As the Executive Director of CalHIPSO, David T. Ford oversees the largest federally-designated Regional Extension Center (REC) for Health Information Technology in the nation and a $15 million contract with the California Department of Health Care Services’ California Technical Assistance Program to assist thousands of safety net providers implement and use health information technology to improve their care and participate in payment reform.

With more than 17 years of experience as a legislative staff member, professional advocate and health care consultant, Ford has extensive knowledge of Medi-Cal program operations and the state’s implementation of the Affordable Care Act. He is also a nationally recognized expert on the transition to electronic health records and health information exchange.

Ford was formerly the Assistant Director of Policy and a registered lobbyist for the California Medical Association, where he served as the principal analyst for the state’s implementation of the ACA. Prior to his work at CMA, he was Chief of Staff to then-Assembly Member and now State Senator Ted Lieu, and previously served on the staff of former Assembly Member George Nakano.



DeeAnne McCallin
Program Director

As Program Director, DeeAnne McCallin manages all aspects of CalHIPSO’s California Technical Assistance Program (CTAP), focusing on enabling California safety net providers to achieve meaningful use of electronic health records. Under McCallin’s leadership, CalHIPSO will continue to provide essential technical assistance services similar to that which she oversaw under the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology’s (ONC) Regional Extension Centers Program through June 2015. Through CTAP, CalHIPSO will assist about 3,000 safety net providers in 53 of California’s 58 counties through 2018. In addition to her role at CalHIPSO, McCallin serves as the Chair of the ONC’s Meaningful Use Community of Practice. Prior to joining CalHIPSO in 2012, McCallin served as the EHR implementation specialist and project manager for a small family practice in Monterey County.
