CMS Announces Clinical-Quality Reporting Pilot for Eligible Hospitals
CMS launched a pilot program allowing hospitals to test their ability to report on clinical quality measures (CQMs) under the EHR Incentive payment program
Eligible Hospitals and CAHs may satisfy the CQM reporting requirement in three ways:
- Attest, using the attestation tool provided by CMS
- Submit Quality Reporting Document Architecture (QRDA) Category I data during the submission period for episodes of care occurring in federal Fiscal Year 2012.
- Both attest and submit CQMs electronically through the pilot. (If this option is elected, payment will be based on the attestation results.)
Information regarding the EHR 2012 Reporting Pilot is contained in the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) 2012 Final Rule, and the EHR Incentive Program Final Rule, published July 28, 2010.
The EHR 2012 Reporting Pilot will give participants an opportunity to submit test data beginning July 3, 2012 and will remain available throughout the reporting and submission period. Submission of production data will begin October 1, 2012, and conclude November 30, 2012.
