Oakland, CA – May 16, 2012 – The California Health Information and Partnership Services Organization (CalHIPSO) has added four new Electronic Health Record (EHR) vendors to its list of EHR Vendor Partners. The additional EHR systems are Med A-Z, 4medica, Office Ally, and MDsuite of Data Strategies, Inc.. These vendors offer an economical option for small and solo practices that are ready to adopt an EHR, says Bre Jackson, CalHIPSO CIO. “As we looked to expand  the number of EHR Vendor Partners working with CalHIPSO, we focused on less expensive systems with a strong market presence in California and demonstrated alignment to the needs of the small and solo practice. “

Ms. Jackson went on to share that the process for selection included extensive review of these company’s technical capabilities over many months under the guidance of an experienced steering committee. This labor intensive process ensured that CalHIPSO’s newest partners possessed the expertise to address revenue cycle management, quality reporting, and HIE interface capabilities; it also guaranteed pricing and contract terms as negotiated by CalHIPSO.

CalHIPSO is confident that these new vendor partners will be able to provide shorter and unique practice implementation plans which efficiently manage the most common barriers to EHR installation of the small practice. The end result, and mission of CalHIPSO, is that providers on these systems will meet Medicare/Medicaid EHR incentive requirements and have a sustainable system to support the provision of better quality care.

“We are very pleased to welcome additional EHR Vendor Partners into our program,” says Speranza Avram, CalHIPSO CEO. “Our new group of vendor partners will offer additional options to our members who are looking for affordable, practice-based solutions, while being assured that they have the strongest possible EHR contract protections.”
