Symphony Provider Directory
CalHIPSO and Integrated Healthcare Association (“IHA”) provided an update on the Symphony Provider Directory. As California’s centralized platform for provider data, the Symphony Provider Directory streamlines the way health plans and providers share, validate and reconcile provider information in compliance with state and federal requirements such as SB 137, Medicare Advantage and Medi-Cal.
Led by non-profit organization IHA, Symphony is the result of cross-industry collaboration and has seen great early momentum since launching officially in January 2019. Current participants include Blue Shield of California, Health Net of California, Anthem Blue Cross and Aetna as well as over 40 provider organizations across the state.

CalHIPSO Webinar Revenue Cycle Management: Revenue Recognition
Whether a solo practice or multi-specialty groups owned by a large health system, medical practices all face certain challenges. But there are ways to optimize revenue, maximize payer contracts and accurately report quality by taking a more data management structured approach. Coding Optimization is the blend of capitated, fee for services and cash pay services and it varies by organization/time/patient mix.
The consumer landscape is changing, and healthcare organizations must stay ahead of the curve to succeed. Physicians must ensure timely and accurate charge capture, underpayment review, clinical documentation improvement, and accounts receivable acceleration.
• The content will provide tactics to improve a medical practice’s revenue and performance.
• The focus is to inform operations, guide a thorough review to root out inefficiencies.
• Establish baseline metrics and formulate plans to eliminate those issues.
RCM systems must capture and validate data as it is entered, where it is entered, minimizing errors and ensuring compliance with payer rules. Optimized performance requires systems and organizations to avoid duplicate data entry and file maintenance minimizing costs and clerical errors. Patients and clients can have 24/7 access to real-time data about their accounts increasing overall satisfaction. All of these capabilities require that the RCM system and operations be able to support the goals and patient care metrics effectively.

CalHIPSO Webinar: Population Health Strategies to Improve Practice Quality and Revenue
Medicare has been rolling out new reimbursements for Population Health Services to help practices provide more comprehensive care for their patients. With increased demand, an aging population, and continued pressure to reduce health care costs, identifying gaps in care and managing margins will be vital. To overcome this shift in Healthcare Delivery and Reimbursement, practices will need to address these three major barriers:
1. Value Based Reimbursement
2. Population Health Management
3. Practice Transformation
By utilizing these new services, practices will be able to significantly increase revenue and improve patient outcome scores while preparing for the shift to value-based care. Join Vigilance Health and CalHIPSO for this free 60-minute session to discover how your practice can implement these services with no upfront costs, staff increase, or capital investments.

CalHIPSO Webinar: MIPS Reporting for 2018
Please join CalHIPSO and SA Ignite on Thursday, October 4th for a free educational webinar on the Medicare Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) 2018 Performance Year. This webinar will cover what you and your practice need to know as you look forward to reporting for MIPS Year 2 (2018).
There are many factors to consider that effect your scores as the MIPS treadmill accelerates. 2018 is very similar to 2017 with slightly higher thresholds and benchmarks. We will explore various scenarios and the impact each decision has to clinicians and groups including:
- Maintaining the course: What happens if you don’t change anything from 2017?
- Reviewing the MIPS Categories: Which ones will deliver the highest value to your practice and have a positive impact on your MIPS performance?
- Changing the object lives and measures you focus on: How do you know which ones will deliver the highest value- and whether you meet the minimum requirements?
- Doing ok with MIPS today? Keep an eye on 2019. Are you establishing the foundation necessary to hit the ground running in 2019 when MIPS gets real?

CalHIPSO Webinar: An industry-wide solution: IHA and the statewide Provider Directory Utility (PDU) initiative
The CalHIPSO Fall Webinar series will kick off on Wednesday, September 26th from Noon-1pm with a presentation Titled: “An industry-wide solution: IHA and the statewide Provider Directory Utility (PDU) initiative.” CalHIPSO will be joined on this webinar by the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA), who is managing the development of the PDU.
Patients rely on provider directories to make important choices about their care, yet maintaining accurate directories remains a tough operational challenge. To solve this problem, the Integrated Healthcare Association (IHA) is working with CalHIPSO and many other stakeholders statewide to develop and implement a single, centralized cloud-based platform: the California Provider Directory Utility (PDU). The PDU will simplify the provider directory management process and decrease the administrative burden while enabling health plans and providers to meet requirements set by California’s SB137.
IHA is currently collaborating with select health plans, provider organizations and independent practices in a soft launch of the PDU. Statewide rollout of the utility is expected to begin in 2019.
